HOMEOWNERS AND RENTERS TAX CREDIT PROGRAM

The State of Maryland provides for some relief for eligible residents in the amount they must pay toward rent or property taxes. Eligibility is based on gross household income compared with the amount paid toward the rent or property taxes. Learn more about the Homeowners and Renters Tax Credit Programs.

MEDICARE

HOUSING PROGRAMS

  • Senior Assisted Living Subsidy (SALS)
    The SALS Program provides monthly financial assistance to eligible County residents. For low and moderate income seniors, the program provides access to assisted living in small group homes which are licensed by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for four to 16 residents.
  • Accessible Homes for Seniors(link is external)
    The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) in partnership with the Maryland Department of Aging has undertaken a pilot project to promote accessibility-related improvements to the homes of seniors. These improvements may include, among others, the installation of grab bars and railings, widening of doorways and installation of ramps.

TAX AIDE COUNSELING

The AARP Tax-Aide program, in collaboration with the Baltimore County Department of Aging, provides free tax preparation and electronic filing services at select senior centers and other locations during tax season.
