TOWSON – Baltimore County’s Department of Planning today announced a series of free workshops and other training opportunities as part of its Capacity-building Initiative, which assists neighborhood and community-based organizations in Baltimore County. Baltimore County has contracted with Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations (MANO) to coordinate this support through Spring 2025 with funding from the Federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

Free, virtual workshop offerings were developed in response to a needs assessment survey of the County’s community and business-focused organizations that received over 300 responses and recommendations by MANO. Workshops are open to any organization serving Baltimore County residents and translation services are available upon request at least 5 days in advance. Three workshops already delivered addressed Grant Readiness, Grant Compliance, and Volunteer Outreach and Management.

  1. A cohort training series on financial management in June
  2. A cohort training series on fundraising in September-October
  3. One-on-one technical assistance on issues identified by the organization.

Organizations must apply for these more in-depth opportunities and space is limited. Eligibility is restricted to those who serve County census tracts designated through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). A map of the County’s ARPA-eligible areas can be found here.

The application can be found here, and the due date is Thursday, May 30 (extended from May 15). All applications will be reviewed by Baltimore County and MANO, and selections made by early June
