Olszewski Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for New Baltimore County Circuit Court Jury Assembly Room

October 24, 2023

TOWSON, MD - Baltimore County Executive Olszewski, along with Sheriff R. Jay Fisher, Administrative Judge Dennis M. Robinson, Jr., and County officials today participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new and expanded jury assembly room at Baltimore County’s Circuit Court in Towson.

The new, consolidated 14,000 square-foot area will allow for jury selection and court cases to proceed in one location, streamlining the process for jurors, judges and staff. Prior to the opening this new space, jury selection took place in multiple locations; most recently American Legion Post #22 on York Rd. in Towson.

“Jury service plays an important role in a democracy, and we are grateful for those who serve our communities by performing their civic duty,” said Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski. “This modern, comfortable and convenient space more than accommodates our valued jurors while also ensuring that judges and court staff have the resources they need to do their jobs efficiently.”

Features of the $6.1 million project include:

  • Large jury assembly space that can be converted into three private rooms, each with its own judge’s bench
  • Two voir dire rooms
  • Lactation room
  • Five accessible, gender-neutral bathrooms
  • Private judges’ office
  • Court administrators’ offices
  • Separate elevator access for the public, judges and inmates
  • Vending area
  • Three inmate holding cells

Plans were developed by Cockeysville-based JMT Architecture and construction completed Baltimore-based North Point Builders.

The new jury assembly room will be open for use on Wednesday, October 25.
