Greater Randallstown Community Development Organization Names Board of Directors

RANDALLSTOWN, MD – Baltimore County’s Greater Randallstown Community Development Organization (GRCDO) met July 19 to introduce its newly formed Board of Directors to the GRCDO Workgroup. GRCDO’s Board of Directors will develop a 501c3 to guide the organization as it works toward the redevelopment and revitalization of the Liberty Road corridor.

The GRCDO, developed in partnership with The Nelson Ideation Group(link is external) (TNIG) and funded through $600,000 in federal American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funds, will engage business and community stakeholders, develop a business plan and work to support efforts to revitalize the commercial and retail corridor along Liberty Road corridor.

“We are fully committed to ensuring the Liberty Road corridor once again becomes a thriving destination location, providing a renewed sense of community and better quality of life for our hardworking residents and local business owners,” said Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski. “This Board brings together respected, thoughtful, and community-minded leaders with diverse perspectives, and I am grateful for their selfless work and commitment to making Randallstown better than ever for our future generations.”

The Mission of the Greater Randallstown Community Development Organization is one “dedicated to meeting the needs of a diverse community. The Greater Randallstown CDO identifies and responds to these needs by building partnerships with business, government, and other stakeholders to enhance a quality of life, safety, equity, and preservation of our community.”

“The Department of Planning is excited to be involved in helping to create a new community development organization for the Greater Randallstown community,” said Baltimore County Department of Planning Director Steve Lafferty. “The County will have a critical, on-the-ground partner with which we can work to strengthen and enhance the Liberty Road corridor and its neighborhoods. The members of the Board bring experience, knowledge, and a commitment to improving their community.”

TNIG is in the midst of a two-part community engagement process; reviewing data, past plans and collaborating with community leaders, major employers, business owners, and commercial property owners to identify the new organization’s priorities and program for the first three years. TNIG will work closely with the GRCDO’s Board of Directors as it develops its strategic plan and sets priorities.
