TOWSON, MD —  In preparation for the long-term closure of the Phoenix Road Bridge over Gunpowder Falls later this spring while it is replaced, Baltimore City, together with Baltimore County, will host a community meeting to answer questions from County residents who will be impacted by the project. The virtual meeting will be held Tuesday, May 10 at 6:30 pm.

The upcoming project is a complete replacement of the Baltimore City-owned bridge, which was originally built in 1922. The bridge has been limited to single-lane traffic as a result of structural deterioration, and the replacement will allow a return to two-way traffic. Construction is expected to begin around May 31, and will take approximately 20 months.

Signage will be placed on York Road, Paper Mill Road and other adjacent roads to alert motorists of required detours around the bridge during construction. Additionally, Philpot Road will have one-way traffic during the bridge closure to better accommodate community members, and signage will be will warn motorists of the altered traffic pattern.

Construction activities may temporarily affect park visitors on the NCR trail. Any impacts to the trail will be communicated as necessary.
