TOWSON, MD — Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski today announced major updates for the Towson Circulator, which will be officially named the Towson Loop.

The Towson Loop will provide free localized public transportation to Towson’s core destinations and main attractions.

“Expanding access to easy, efficient, reliable transit is an essential element in our vision for a better Baltimore County,” Olszewski said. “The Towson Loop will better connect our neighbors with the places where they live, work, study, and play and I am so proud of our administration’s commitment to delivering on the promise of this long-awaited service.”

“There is no capacity in Downtown Towson for new roads, so we must implement transit and other options to help improve mobility throughout this dense community, Councilman David Marks said. “I applaud County Executive Olszewski for helping to finalize this goal that has been more than a decade in the making.”

After stalling for years, County Executive Olszewski provided the first dedicated funds for planning of a Towson Circulator in his FY20 budget.

In addition, the administration named the County’s first Deputy of Transportation at the Department of Public Works to oversee transportation efforts and strategy.

In November 2019, Baltimore County won a $1.65 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to support the pilot program. Olszewski continued his commitment to actualizing the program, providing new operating funding in his FY21 and FY22 budgets, including $1.6 million this year.
Based on feedback from residents during the County’s public input period last fall, County officials today unveiled the following updates for The Towson Loop:

As a result of the ongoing implementation process, there may be minor adjustments to final stop locations.
