An adult male has died as a result of a house fire Sunday evening in Arbutus.

At 6:01 p.m. Sunday, Baltimore County Fire crews responded to the 5500 block of Ashbourne Road.  An engine company from the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department was on location within four minutes and discovered heavy smoke and fire conditions from the rear of the single family home.

As crews entered the structure, they discovered an adult male near the room of origin.  He was taken to EMS crews outside and pronounced dead on the scene.  There were no other occupants inside the home at the time of the fire.

The victim's body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy and identification.  At this time, his identity is not being released.

Preliminary information indicates that the fire originated from a computer room in the rear of the house.  There were no working smoke detectors found inside the home.

A total of twenty fire department units and approximately fifty firefighters responded to the single-alarm working fire.
