Booking photo of Ronald Lee Scott, shooting suspectDetectives from the Baltimore County Violent Crimes Unit have arrested and charged Ronald Lee Scott (27) of the unit block of Platt Lane in Sparrows Point in the shooting of a man in Essex on Saturday. Scott is charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault, and the Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Violent Crime. He is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on no bail status.

Original Release (May 5, 2015 3:10 p.m.):

Baltimore County Police are investigating a shooting in Essex this afternoon. 

Police responded to a call for a shooting just before 3 p.m. in the area of Stemmers Run Road and North Marlyn Avenue. Investigators discovered that an adult male victim was involved in an encounter with the suspect which resulted in the victim suffering a gunshot wound to his lower extremity.  

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently in good condition. The suspect fled prior to police arriving on the scene. Police believe that the victim was targeted in this case.

Detectives of the Baltimore County Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit are continuing to investigate this incident. If you have any additional information regarding this shooting, contact police at 410-307-2020.
