The Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team continues to investigate a fatal pedestrian crash on Eastern Avenue yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to the area of Eastern Avenue and Tidewater Lane around 1:11 p.m. Sunday when a 2017 Ram 1500 truck traveling westbound on Eastern Avenue struck a pedestrian that suddenly darted out into the roadway. The truck attempted to swerve to avoid the pedestrian but the woman collided with the passenger side of the truck. She was transported to MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center where she later died.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the woman attempted to run across Eastern Avenue to catch a MTA bus that was stopped and loading passengers on the north shoulder of Eastern Avenue. She is identified as 19-year old Trinea Anerra Covington of the unit block of Ambo Circle, 21220.

Baltimore County Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred last night around 9:30 p.m. on Loch Raven Boulevard.

A pedestrian, identified as Mohamed Hamid Idries Hassan (72) of the 600 block of Walker Avenue, 21212, was crossing Loch Raven Boulevard near Sayward Avenue when he was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling northbound.  Hassan suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Sinai Hospital where he later died.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team is continuing to identify the factors contributing to this fatal crash.

One woman was killed and another critically injured when a Chevrolet Silverado struck them on Hanover Pike last night, and fled.

The two women and another friend stopped at the Colonial Inn at 15102 Hanover Pike, 21155 around 11:30 p.m. last night. While the friend went inside the two women walked around to the back of their vehicle and were standing partially in the travel portion of Hanover Pike when a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck approached them in the southbound lane. The truck struck both woman and continued driving southbound with significant damage to the truck. The driver of the truck, Scott Anthony Kozera (40) of the 4600 block of Lower Beckleysville Road in Hampstead, stopped the truck about two and a half miles further down Hanover Pike when he began experiencing engine trouble following the crash.

An alert officer responding to the call saw the truck parked on the side of the road and, realizing it matched the initial description of the suspect vehicle, stopped and investigated. Officers quickly confirmed that this was the suspect and suspect vehicle and placed him under arrest. He is presently charged with hit-and-run violations and driving an uninsured vehicle. The case will be forwarded to the Office of the State's Attorney for further review and charges.

When police and EMS arrived on the scene they found 26-year-old Cana Maree Ratchford of the 2400 block of Sandymount in Finksburg and her 25-year-old friend laying in the street. Both were transported to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma where Ratchford was pronounced deceased. The other woman remains in critical condition.

Kozera is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on no bail status pending a bail review hearing.
