Booking photo of Marquis MatthewsThe suspect in the shooting on Kingston Road in Middle River Monday night is identified as Marquis Devonn Warren Matthews (42) of the 2100 block of Vailthorn Road, 21220.

Matthews is charged with attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony/violent crime. Matthews is held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center pending a bail review hearing.

Original Release (July 16, 2019 11:42 a.m.):

One man has been seriously injured in a shooting in Middle River late last night.

Police responded to a call for a shooting in the 100 block of Kingston Road around 11 p.m. and found a man, 29, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body that caused a life-threatening injury. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment but is expected to survive his wounds.

A suspect who fled the scene following the shooting has been taken into custody. His identity is withheld pending formal charges.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and suspect are acquainted and have had an ongoing personal dispute that culminated in the shooting last night.

The Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit is continuing their investigation into this shooting.

Police are investigating a shooting in Essex that injured a woman early this morning.

The woman, 21, had been dropped off to the rear of a home in the 100-block of Kingston Road when she was shot at least once in the upper body, suffering life-threatening injuries.  She was transported to an area hospital for treatment. 

The suspect(s) fled the area prior to police arrival. Detectives from the Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit are continuing to investigate this incident. Anyone who may have information concerning this shooting is asked to call police at 410-307-2020.
