The Baltimore County Police Department has scheduled two Basketball Clinics for Thursday, July 19 and Friday, July 20. Kids from ages 8 to 17 are invited to these clinics that are hosted by the Wilkens Precinct.

Walk-in registration begins at 8 a.m. in the gym at Leadership Through Athletics, located at 2900 Hammonds Ferry Road, Halethorpe 21227. The clinic begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. There will be pizza, snacks, water and Gatorade for the young athletes.

The officers will offer their skills and know-how to the kids on the court. They will learn teamwork. As they shoot the hoops, they will see the officers as people, not just someone with a badge and uniform. The person on the court is not just the officer in the neighborhood, but someone to trust in a time of trouble. They will see a person like them. Our officers are great role models.

Download and submit the registration and waiver form (PDF) to participate in the basketball clinic.

Bring your friends. There is nothing like a good game of “b-ball” with friends from your neighborhood!

Update (12/15/16 12:20 p.m.)

Due to pending inclement weather, the basketball clinic at Dumbarton Middle School is cancelled.

Original Release (11/29/17 12:16 p.m.)

Kids, ages eight to 14, are invited to another free basketball clinic hosted by the Baltimore County Police Department. The clinic will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 15, at Dumbarton Middle School located at 300 York Road, Towson 21286.

Children are encouraged to bring a friend and get some hoop tips from County officers. The clinic offers kids a chance to learn teamwork, as well as develop leadership skills. It is also a great opportunity for police officers and youngsters to interact with each other. The officers are great role models for young people.

Officers from around the County will be there to share their "hoop" skills. As they do so, they will be open to questions from the kids regarding police work and how to join the Baltimore County Police Department as an Explorer or Cadet.

Pizza, water, Gatorade, snacks and a "sports sack" will be provided to all participants.

Get your sneakers, shorts and favorite T-shirt ready for the Pre-Holiday Basketball Clinic.

Download and submit the Basketball Clinic permission slip/waiver (PDF) to register. Walk-ins are welcome too!
