UPDATE (May 22, 2020 12:15 p.m.):

Howard County Police have charged two suspects in yesterday's police officer-involved shooting. Read their press release on their website at HowardCountyMD.gov. Be sure to follow Howard County Police for updated information on this investigation.

Original Release (May 21, 2020 10:34 p.m):

Baltimore County Police detectives were investigating a shooting that occurred on May 19 at Hollins Ferry Road and Third Avenue in Precinct 1 Wilkens where a suspect shot at another person, missed and fled the scene. Detectives were able to identify the shooter and obtained an arrest warrant.

On May 21 undercover investigators were able to locate the suspect and saw him get into a car. They requested a marked patrol unit to make the traffic stop so they could arrest the suspect wanted for the shooting. The officer attempted to stop the car in the area of Second and Saratoga avenues when the vehicle fled the scene. A pursuit ensued and several other units, along with assistance of air support, tracked the vehicle into Howard County where the suspects were ultimately arrested after a police involved shooting.

Howard County Police will be conducting the investigation into the officer involved shooting while Baltimore County will pursue charges against the three suspects who were in the car.

Baltimore County Police and Fire continue to assess local storm damage and to provide assistance as needed to Howard County following last night's deadly flash flood.

BCoPD's Dive Team has been on standby for assistance to Howard County and has investigated reports of vehicles stranded in water on the Baltimore County side of the Patapsco River. The waters still are moving too swiftly and are too dangerous for the Dive Team to enter the river.

Divers now are in a recovery, rather than a rescue, mode.

BCoPD Aviation and patrol units have been searching for additional casualties. (Howard County reports that all missing persons are accounted for.)

BCoFD medic, swiftwater and rescue teams have been working since the beginning of this serious weather event, with efforts concentrated on the west side of the county and especially in the area along the Patapsco River. BCoFD crews responded last night to dozens of calls involving vehicles stranded in high, moving water. No serious injuries are reported in Baltimore County.

Today, fire crews conducted a "windshield assessment" of affected neighborhoods on the west side. Reports of minor damage have been turned over to the Department of Public Works and other relevant agencies.
