UPDATE (September 22, 2017 11:57 a.m.):

A family member of Bernie Smith has been located and he will be returned to his caretaker in Baltimore City. Thank you to everyone who aided in the effort to identify and return Mr. Smith to his home. Special thanks to Derek at Echo House Multi Services Center in Baltimore City who stepped outside and walked around the neighborhood in the 200 block of North Mount Street asking everyone if they knew Mr. Smith. Your extra efforts are what helped us finally get Mr. Smith back home.

UPDATE (September 20, 2017 10:42 p.m.):

The man found in Lutherville-Timonium earlier this evening has been identified through fingerprints as Bernie Smith (67), with no known local address. Police have still not determined how Mr. Smith got to the area where he was found or where he currently resides. Police are asking anyone familiar with Bernie Smith to contact officers at Precinct 7 - Cockeysville (410-887-1820) as they continue to investigate this matter.

Original Release (September 20, 2017 7:50 p.m.):

Baltimore County Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a vulnerable adult found in the area of Fieldspring Court and Seminary Drive off of West Seminary Avenue in Lutherville-Timonium.

Police were called to the area around 5:22 p.m. when the man was knocking on doors in the neighborhood and unable to articulate who he was or why he was in the area. County EMS responded and found him to be in good medical condition but he appears to suffer from some type of cognitive disorder, possibly a form of dementia. The man appears to be a light skinned black male, possibly in his early 60's, approximately 5'8" and 150 pounds. He has brown eyes and a full black and gray beard and mustache. He is wearing an orange polo type shirt, khaki shorts, a pink baseball cap, and white high-top tennis shoes.

Anyone who may recognize this man is asked to contact police at the Cockeysville Precinct at 410-887-1820 or by dialing 9-1-1. Please share this post and help us to identify this man and return him to his home and family.
