A crash involving a motorcycle in Catonsville this afternoon has become fatal following the death of the rider.

The motorcycle was traveling northbound on Winters Lane when a Jeep Liberty traveling southbound attempted to make a left turn onto Edmondson Avenue in front of the motorcycle, which struck the passenger side of the Jeep. The rider, identified as John Yoon (27) of the 6400 block of Clifton Forge Circle, 21228, was transported to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center where he later died.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team is continuing the investigation into this crash.

Original release (July 5, 2016  5:14 p.m.):

Officers at the Wilkens precinct are investigating extensive vandalism that occurred last week at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in the 1900 block of Edmondson Avenue.

Police are investigating this as a possible bias related crime because of information provided by the pastor that she believes the church has been victimized before because of its open acceptance of gays and lesbians. The church flies a gay unity flag on its doorstep. Police responded to a previous incident involving theft of this unity flag.

Officers responded to the church at about 9:40 a.m. June 30. The pastor told them that someone had broken into the church over night and ransacked it. Police found smashed windows, file cabinets opened and furniture and other items broken and strewn about. A fire extinguisher had been used to spray throughout the church, damaging many items including church pew cushions.

In the music room, various inflammatory phrases were written on a dry erase board. These included, "666," "Hail Satan," WTF is Jezus?" and "Death 2 All."

Police believe the crime occurred some time between 7:30 p.m. on June 29 and 9:40 a.m. on June 30.

This is an open investigation. There are no suspects at this time. Anyone with information about this crime should call BCoPD at 410-307-2020.

Original release (February 4, 2016  11:13 a.m.):

Baltimore County Police are investigating a death that resulted from an assault involving two elderly patients at a Catonsville nursing home.

On January 26 at 7:15 p.m., police responded to the Forest Haven Nursing Home in the 700 block of Edmondson Avenue 21228 for an assault report. The investigation has indicated that a 61-year-old male patient pushed 84-year-old Henri Balmadier, also a patient, causing him to fall and hit his head.

Balmadier was transported to Saint Agnes Hospital for treatment and later transferred to Gilchrist Hospice Center in Columbia, where he died on February 1. The autopsy concluded that the cause of death was complications from head trauma; the manner of death was homicide.

This incident is under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit. When the Homicide investigation is complete, the report will be turned over to the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office, which will decide if charges will be filed.
