The 3rd Annual Baltimore County Police Department Baseball Camp is scheduled for June 25 to 29. Precinct 12 Dundalk will host the camp from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Merritt Point Park located at 7800 Dunmanway in Dundalk 21222.

The week-long camp focuses on underprivileged and at-risk youth from ages 8 to 14. It is free to participants nominated by local schools, recreation councils and other programs. There will be “skills and drills” for the participants in the morning and games after lunch. A cookout is scheduled on the last day of camp.

Officer McElfish, a 24-year veteran of the department who works in Precinct 12 Dundalk, began this program in 2016. He has also played in the minor leagues for the Cleveland Indians.

The camp helps to strengthen relations between police officers and young people.

UPDATE (July 30, 2016  10:54 a.m.):

Baltimore County Police detectives are still investigating a shooting incident in Dundalk last night that left two people injured.

The male victim is 26-years-old, was shot multiple times in the upper body, but is expected to survive his injuries.

The female victim was injured by being struck with a gun and is doing well.

The incident occurred outside a home in the 2900 block of Cornwall Road after a verbal altercation between residents and nonresidents escalated. The male victim was shot there and fled to the area of Liberty Parkway and Dunmanway, where he collapsed.

Police are asking anyone with any information on this incident to contact police at 410-307-2020 or call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.

Original release (July 30, 2016  1:12 a.m.):

Baltimore County Police are investigating a shooting in Dundalk that left two people injured late Friday night.

Police were called to the area of Liberty Parkway and Dunmanway in Precinct 12 at 10:41 p.m. for an injured subject. There police discovered an adult male victim who had been shot at least once in the upper body.

The preliminary investigation led police to a second victim, an adult female, in the 2900 block of Cornwall Road, just blocks from where the male victim had been found. She suffered injuries that may have been caused by being struck by the weapon, but was not shot.

Both victims were taken to area hospitals, their conditions unknown at this time.

Police have no suspect information for either assault at this time.

Baltimore County Violent Crimes Unit continues to investigate this incident.

Original release (September 12  12:55 p.m.):

Just after 3:30 a.m. this morning, Baltimore County Police received a call for a shooting occurring near the intersection of Dunmanway and Yorkway in the Dundalk area. Officers arrived and found a 17-year-old boy suffering from a gun shot wound to the upper body.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.

Police have not determined a motive for the shooting at this time and are continuing to investigation this crime. If anyone has information concerning this shooting, please call the Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020.

Police have no further information at this time.
