UPDATE (August 10, 2020 11:23 a.m.):

Baltimore County Police detectives arrested two more suspects in connection with the death of Benjamin Knefel on July 3. Ajuan McDaniel (17) and Avion McDaniel (16), both of the unit block of Bonbon Court, 21136 were charged with first-degree murder. They are held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on a no bail status.

Suspect Arrested in July 3 Murder in Owings Mills

On July 3 just before 10 p.m. Baltimore County Police responded to the unit block of Richmar Road, 21117 for a shooting. Responding officers found the victim, Benjamin Knefel (31) of the unit block of Richmar Road, 21117, shot multiple times in the upper body. He was pronounced deceased by medics.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and another person argued with the victim as they stood on the parking lot of the location. During the argument, the suspect shot the victim. After the victim fell to the ground, the suspect shot the victim again and then fled the scene.

Artis McDaniel, III (19) of the unit block of Bonbon Court, 21136 was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and is held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on a no bail status pending a bail review hearing.

Police Investigate a Shooting in Owings Mills That Left a Man Dead

On July 3 just before 10 p.m. Baltimore County Police responded to the unit block of Richmar Road, 21117 for a shooting. Responding officers found the victim, Benjamin Knefel (31) of the unit block of Richmar Road, 21117, shot multiple times in the upper body. He was pronounced deceased by medics.

Baltimore County Police Department's Homicide Detectives are continuing the investigation into this murder. Anyone who may have additional information is asked to contact Baltimore County by calling 410-307-2020. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward when submitting tips through Metro Crime Stoppers.

Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland, an organization that is separate from the Baltimore County Police Department and Baltimore County Government, offers rewards of up to $2000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges in connection with felony offenses.

Baltimore County Police investigate a crash in Upperco today that left a bicyclist dead.

On August 1 just after 2:30 p.m. a Toyota Matrix drove east on Mount Carmel Road near Pleasant Meadow Road, 21155 behind a bicyclist. The Toyota hit the rear of the bicycle, causing the bicyclist to fall. The bicyclist, identified as Isaac Scharbach (21) of the 16000 block of Dark Hollow Road, 21155, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene. 

Investigators from the Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team are asking anyone who may have information regarding this incident to contact police at 410-307-2020.

Baltimore County Police investigate a crash on June 30 in Phoenix, Maryland that left a woman dead.

On June 30 at 10:20 a.m., Lauren Miller (40) of the 3900 block of Emrick Lane, 21084 drove a 2002 Ford Taurus north on Jarrettsville Pike near Whitesworth Road. Miller's car crossed the double yellow lines and struck  a 2016 Isuzu truck and 2017 Ford Fusion, both in the southbound lanes of Jarrettsville Pike. Miller was transported to the University of Maryland Medical Center where she remained until she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on July 5.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team is continuing their work to determine all of the factors involved in this fatal crash.
