The Baltimore County Police Department is pleased to announce the graduation of the 38th Citizens’ Academy Class. On Wednesday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m., Chief Terrence B. Sheridan will present certificates to the new graduates. The ceremony will take place in the England Dansicker Room located in the Public Safety Building, 700 East Joppa Road, Towson, 21286

Departmental Chaplain Wayne Coffiell is one of the 24 people who began the journey on March 6. During the 15-week program, participants learned about various units and the many aspects of law enforcement. They heard from officers who are members of specialized units such as K-9, Marine/Aviation, Tactical Operations and RATT (Regional Auto Theft Taskforce).

The participants also learned more about the precincts, narcotics identification and investigation. They also sat in on lectures that covered Public Affairs, Community Resources, and Criminal Investigations.

The ultimate purpose of the Citizens’ Academy is to foster greater communication and relationships between the Department, the community, and business. The hope is to establish a better understanding of law enforcement.
