A single alarm fire late last night in Lansdowne has claimed the life of a 69-year-old woman.

Eleanor Jean Daniels was found inside the home in the 3100 block of Aspen Court by Baltimore County Fire crews.  She was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Crews were dispatched to the residence at 10:44 p.m. after a neighbor had called 911 stating that the home was on fire.  Engine 372, from the English Consul Volunteer Fire Department, was on-scene within six minutes and found heavy fire conditions from the rear of the end-of-group townhouse.

As crews began their initial attack on the fire, a small explosion occurred.  This is preliminarily believed to be an oxygen tank inside the home which had ruptured.

The fire was placed under control at 11:15 p.m.  Three firefighters suffered minor injuries but were not transported from the scene.

15 fire department units and approximately 40 personnel responded to the fire.  Fire investigators from the Baltimore County Police Department are working to determine the cause of the fire.
