Baltimore County detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect wanted in robbing four juveniles as they walked out of Towson Town Center around 6:30 p.m. on July 9. Seneca Rice, 34 years old, from the 1800 block of Wycliffe Road, 21234, is charged with four counts of robbery, one count second-degree assault and various theft charges. He is currently in custody in Baltimore City on unrelated charges. A detainer will be issued until Baltimore City has concluded their investigation.

The July 9 incident occurred as the juveniles walked out of the side entrance of the mall near Fairmount Avenue and were confronted by the suspect. During the confrontation, the suspect had a knife on his belt as he demanded the juveniles’ backpacks and personal items. At one point, the suspect grabbed the back of one of the victims to prevent him from leaving. The suspect used bias slurs towards the victims during the robbery. The victims gave the suspect their personal items and he fled the area.

Detectives were able to interview witnesses and gather evidence that led them to identifying suspect Rice. Detectives shared this information with Baltimore City and they advised he was in custody for an unrelated crime.

This is an ongoing investigation.

UPDATE (July 14, 2020 1:20 p.m.):

Detectives have identified the suspect in the assault on a 22-month-old girl on Derby Shire Circle on July 12.

Dayquis Korleone Moore, 21 years old, of the 4000 block of Chesmont Avenue, 21206, has been charged with attempted first degree murder, first degree assault and various other charges. Moore is currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center with bailed denied. He will have a bail review later today.

UPDATE (July 13, 2020 12:12 p.m.):

Detectives are investigating the injury caused to a 22-month-old girl last night on Derby Shire Circle as a shooting.

The incident appears to have stemmed from a domestic incident between the child’s mother and ex-boyfriend during which he assaulted the woman. Another resident of the home, an adult man, attempted to intervene and stop the assault at which time the suspect produced a handgun. A struggle for the gun ensued, during which the male victim was struck with the gun causing an injury to his upper body. The preliminary investigation indicates that the gun discharged during the struggle, causing a graze wound to the child. The suspect left the gun at the scene and fled the home but was apprehended by responding officers after a brief foot pursuit.

The suspect’s identity will be released later today following formal charges.

Original Release (July 12, 2020 9:02 p.m.):

Baltimore County Police are investigating a call for a shooting that injured a child this evening.

Police were called to the 3500 block of Derby Shire Circle, 21244 at 7:01 p.m. for a shooting. Officers found a child inside a residence suffering from a laceration that may have been caused by gunfire. The child was transported to an area hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.

Officers located and arrested the suspect after a brief foot-pursuit. A gun was recovered at the scene. The incident appears to be domestic-related and there is no further threat to the community.

More information will be provided as it becomes available. The Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit is responding to continue the investigation into this incident.
