Spring is here and the Baltimore County Police and Fire Departments, under the sponsorship of the Police Community Relations Councils, are happy to celebrate Public Safety Day (PDF).

The event will take place on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Chesapeake Park Plaza, 2333 Eastern Boulevard in Middle River across from Martin State Airport.

The event is free and attendees will see many public safety displays and demonstrations, and will be able to obtain community resource information. There will also be food vendors.

See demonstrations from the BCoPD Aviation Units, Marine Unit, Tactical and K-9. The BCoFD will have engines, trucks and medic units as well as a rescue demonstration by volunteer firefighters. The firefighters will show attendees the special equipment needed to extricate victims from car crashes.

There will be a recruitment representative to answer any questions regarding a career in the Police Department.

This year will feature a historical-classic-import car show (PDF). There will be prizes awarded to the winners.

Plush toys will be given to the first 50 children and there will be a 50/50 raffle.

Come see all the demonstrations and enjoy the day with family, friends and neighbors.

Should there be rain, Public Safety Day will be held on Saturday, April 28.

UPDATE (April 5, 2018 10:49 a.m.):

Baltimore County Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting of a 21-year-old man on the parking lot of the Foundry Row shopping center Tuesday afternoon.

Booking photo of shooting suspect Rashard Gabriel WilliamsRashard Gabriel Williams (25) of the 600 block of Beverly Road in Reisterstown, 21136 is charged with Attempted 1st degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault, Armed Robbery, and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit determined that Williams met the victim on the parking lot where they had a confrontation. Williams shot the victim at least once in the upper body and stole personal items, then fled the scene. The victim also left the scene, responding to Northwest Hospital for treatment, where he was later located by officers. He is expected to survive his injuries.

Williams is held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on denied bail status.

Update: Police Investigating Shooting (4/3/18 6:30 p.m.):

The shooting victim is an adult male who suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. The man is receiving treatment at a local hospital and is expected to survive his injuries. He is listed in good condition. Police determined that the victim was targeted in this incident. Detectives are continuing their investigation and believe that there is no threat to the general public. 

Original Release: Police Investigating Shooting (4/3/18 5:40 p.m.):

Just after 4:00 p.m. on April 3, 2018, Baltimore County Police received a call for a shooting in a parking lot in the 10000-block of Reisterstown Road, 21117. Police later located a victim receiving treatment at an area hospital. The victim's condition is unknown. Additional information will be provided as police continue their investigation.
