Original Release (January 10, 2017 1:21 p.m.):

A 66-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Eastern Avenue this morning.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was attempting to cross Eastern Avenue at 54th Street just before 7 a.m. when he was struck by a Jeep Cherokee traveling eastbound on Eastern Avenue approaching 54th Street. The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene. The pedestrian was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team is continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fatal crash.

With the cold weather that we have been experiencing recently, Baltimore County Police would like to remind motorists about leaving their cars running and unattended. Maryland Law prohibits leaving an unattended running vehicle. This can result in a potential penalty of a $70 fine and one point on your driving record.

If you leave your car running, there is a strong possibility of your car being stolen and used to commit other crimes. This not only causes a loss to you but could also help thieves victimize others. To learn more:
