On September 16, 2017 at 8:42 p.m., Baltimore County Police responded to a shooting in the area of St. Regis and Marquette Road in the Garden Village Community of Precinct 9 - White Marsh.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that two groups exchanged gunfire near the basketball courts in the area. Police believe that the victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to the neck, was not an intended target, and was accidentally struck by that gunfire. He is expected to survive his injury.

This incident is currently under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit. Anyone with additional information regarding this shooting is asked to contact police at 410-307-2020.​

On September 16, 2017 just before 8 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 1300 block of Sugarwood Circle in Essex, 21221. Several minutes later police located a man in the 900 block of Holgate Drive who had been struck by gunfire. The victim, a 21-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Police believe this incident may have been a result of a dispute that occurred earlier in the evening.

Detectives of the Baltimore County Police Department, Violent Crimes Unit, are continuing to investigate this incident.​
