On July 22, 2017, officers from the Woodlawn precinct responded to the Motel 6 located in the 1600 block of Whitehead Court, for an injury call. During the course of their initial investigation, officers discovered that a small child had been kidnapped from the location.

Dominique Manago told officers that a known man was taking care of her 1-year-old child, Kalani Goodson. The man came to the motel with the child inside his car. He knocked on the door of the room, while Manago was inside the room. Manago refused to open the door for the man. The suspect went back to his car and started to leave the area with the child. As the man was leaving, Manago ran up to the car and tried to remove her daughter from inside the car. The suspect moved his car back and forth causing Manago to fall to the ground, then drove off with the child still in the car.

Police began searching for Kalani Goodson immediately and she was located at approximately 7 p.m. in the Wilkens area of Baltimore County, when officers saw the suspect’s vehicle. Kalani Goodson was recovered by police, safe and unharmed.

The suspect was arrested and charged with one count of kidnapping a child under the age of 16. Clarence James Harris, 65, of the 300-block of Saybrooke View Drive, 20877 is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
