On September 28, members of the Baltimore County Police Department Community Partnership Team and Baltimore County Recreation and Parks PAL program hosted a youth initiatives delegation from Algeria. 

The delegation was interested to learn about after school youth programs and were impressed with the number of activities Recreation and Parks has for children. They were also impressed with the involvement of the Baltimore County Police Department with youth throughout our county, to include the Police Youth Explorers program. 

The delegation mentioned their desire to bring to Algeria the types of programs and relationships that exist through the Baltimore County Police Department Youth & Community Services Section and the Baltimore County Recreation and Parks programs. 

 

UPDATE (September 29, 2016  3:47 p.m.):

Baltimore County Police have been able to identify the man found on Belair Road today and have contacted people to come and pick him up.

The man is from Eritrea and is being assisted by the International Rescue Committee.

Original release (September 29, 2016  2:34 p.m.):

Just before 10:30 a.m. this morning, Baltimore County Police responded to the 11500 block of Belair Road 21087 for a suspicious subject.

When officers arrived on the scene they encountered an African American man, 5’05”, 160 pounds, with a goatee standing in the rain soaking wet. He was wearing a red and tan plaid shirt with a tan shirt under it, jeans, and silver shoes. Officers attempted to communicate with him and even used the Language Line. They believe his name might be Yasien Mohammed, he might be 25-years-old, and he may be from Ethiopia.

Officers drove the man to Franklin Square Hospital where he was given some clean clothes.

Anyone with information on this man is asked to call police at 410-887-5000.

Original release (September 29, 2016  1:04 p.m.):

An 11th grader at Kenwood High School has been charged as an adult with assault after an incident on September 23.

The investigation has indicated that the suspect is an 11th grade student and the victim is a 10th grade student, both from Kenwood High School. Both the suspect and victim ride the same school bus. On September 23 at 3:46 p.m., the bus dropped both of them off at Elm Drive and Wilson Point Road 21220. The victim approached the suspect to confront him about a previous incident. The suspect then produced a handgun from his backpack and pointed it at the victim. The victim was not injured during the incident.

The suspect has been identified as 16-year-old Shane Kaleipaihala Pule Jr of the Unit block of Dogwood Road 21220. He has been charged as an adult with first-degree assault and related charges. He was released on $100,000 bail.

The .45 caliber handgun that Pule pointed at the victim was recovered by investigators.

This incident remains under investigation by the Essex Precinct Investigative Services Team.
