UPDATE (March 22, 2016  9:25 a.m.):

Traffic lights are starting to come back on. Motorists should continue to use caution in area.

Original release (March 22, 2016  9:15 a.m.):

At 8:09 a.m. this morning, a tractor trailer hit some overhead power lines in the 200 block of East Joppa Road in Towson. This caused a power outage which in turn caused multiple traffic lights in the area to go out or malfunction. BGE is working on getting power back now.

The tractor trailer has been removed from the wires and the driver was not injured. Joppa Road is open.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution in the area.

Original release (March 22, 2016  8:51 p.m.):

At 7:45 a.m. this morning, Baltimore County Police responded to Liberty Road and Offutt Road 21133 for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

The preliminary investigation into this crash has indicated that a male trash collection employee was trying to get onto the back of a trash truck when he was struck by a van. The van remained at the scene.

The 20-year-old man was transported to Sinai hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Crash Team.
