On August 20 at 11:38 p.m., Baltimore County Police responded to St. Joseph's Medical Center for a report of a suicide. When officers arrived, they located the body of an adult male who was declared deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation into the incident has indicated that the male had been in the custody of the Baltimore County Department of Corrections and was brought to St Joseph's Medical Center for treatment. He was in a fifth floor room at the facility and was being guarded by two Baltimore County Department of Corrections officers. The man was able to move away from his bed, break the window, and jump to the ground below. Corrections officers were not able to bring the male under control before he broke the window and jumped out.

The male’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

This incident is under review by Baltimore County Police Internal Affairs Section and the Baltimore County Department of Corrections.
