The driver of a car that collided this morning with a charter bus in the intersection of Falls Road at Brick Store Road, 21074, has died.

The victim is identified as Joel William Drawbaugh (19) of Havre De Grace.

BCoPD and EMS personnel from Baltimore County and Carroll County fire services responded to the scene at about 10:50 a.m. The first-arriving unit, Medic 855 (Upperco VFC), found a serious crash involving a black Infiniti G37x and a charter bus carrying 41 students from St. Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel on their way to a retreat at River Valley Ranch in Manchester.

The patient in the Infiniti was heavily entrapped. Fire and rescue personnel freed him from the vehicle at 11:31 a.m. A Maryland State Police Medevac was requested but was cancelled when the patient went into trauma arrest. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Confirmation of his death was delayed pending proper notification of his family.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the Infiniti was traveling southbound on Falls Road north of Brick Store Road. The charter bus had become stuck while attempting to make a left turn onto northbound Falls Road from eastbound Brick Store Road. As the Infiniti entered the intersection it  struck the rear driver side of the bus.

Seven passengers and the driver of the bus were transported to Carroll Hospital Center, all with minor injuries.

Falls Road remained closed between Gunpowder Road and Beckleysville Road into the afternoon rush hour during crash reconstruction efforts.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the cause of this fatal crash.
