December brings cold weather and plenty of opportunities for sharing holiday cheer with friends and family. Plan a family outing, participate in a tree lighting, or attend a program at one of our many parks. Some popular programs fill quickly and require reservations, so plan your holiday fun now!

The Benjamin Banneker Historical Park & Museum invites you to their Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, December 1, from 12:00-3:00 pm. There will be a wide range of holiday gifts by area crafters.

December 5, 2018

Start decking the halls with a festive tree! Holt Park & Center for the Arts invites you to the Natural World of Art: Stylized Christmas Tree on Wednesday, December 5, from 6:30-7:30 pm. The cost is $2/person. Please pre-register by emailing with your name and phone number.

December 8, 2018

Have breakfast with Santa! The North Point Village Recreation Council will be offering a Breakfast with Santa at Battle Grove Elementary School on December 8, from 9:00-11:00 am. The cost is $5 per person and each child will receive a toy. Tickets are on sale at Battle Grove Elementary School, 7828 Saint Patricia Lane, Baltimore MD 21222. No tickets will be sold at the door. The 5th Annual Overlea Community Christmas Tree Lighting will be held December 8, from 7:00-9:00 pm.  The event will be held at the Fullerton Community Center, 7209 Belair Road, Baltimore, MD 21206. There will be music, refreshments, activities for children, lighting of the tree, and of course Santa! Hosted by the Overlea Community Association along with the Overlea-Fullerton Recreation Council.

The Lake Roland Nature council will host its Meet the Artist reception at Lake Roland on December 9, from 1:00-3:00 pm at Pavilion #1. Learn more about the Art on the Trail installations from the artists themselves! Free for all ages.

Warm up at the Holiday Tea at the Benjamin Banneker Historical Park & Museum. On Sunday, December 9, from 2:00-4:00 pm, delights await, including three courses of tea, light refreshments, and flute quartet accompaniment. Registration required, $25 per person, email: or call: 410-887-1081.

Enjoy a crisp night with a warm campfire and roast marshmallows at Lake Roland’s S’mores, Stars, & the Winter Solstice event, December 14, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Learn about the lore of holiday traditions on one of the longest nights of the year. Cost $5 per person ($3 members). E-mail to register.

Celebrate the holidays at Holt Park and attend the Log Cabin Christmas celebration Sunday, December 16, 12:00-3:00 pm. Enjoy making crafts, edible treats, and holiday decorations while keeping warm in our beautifully decorated historic cabins and listening to festive tunes.  Activities are free, but donations welcome.

Still looking for a Christmas tree to light up your home? Visit Hannah More Park through December 21 for a variety of available trees from 4-9 feet, weekdays, 5:00-8:00 pm and weekends, 10:00am-8:00 pm. Proceeds will benefit the Reisterstown Recreation Franklin High School Scholarship Program and the American Legion Riders Legacy Scholarship Foundation.

School’s out! Dress for the weather and come spend a day at Lake Roland exploring the outside, playing games, and making crafts! For children 6-12 years old, the program runs from 9:00 am-3:00pm. The cost is $40 per child ($35 for members). E-mail to register.
