Says Particularly Appalling in Context of Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Weekend

Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz today issued the statement below following President Trump’s attack on the people of Haiti and African nations:

“As the leader of an increasingly diverse and growing county, I note the sharp irony that while we celebrate the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we are plagued by the racist and ignorant words of our American president. President Trump’s disgraceful slurs against the people of Haiti and the continent of Africa are inexcusable.

Dr. King surely would be saddened by the continuing racial discrimination and inequality in our modern society. ‘Nothing in all the world,' he said, ‘is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.’  Fitting words to match current times.”
