Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Darlene Love shines at the Baltimore County Department of Aging’s Power of Age Expo at the Timonium Fairgrounds. Celebrating 30 years, the Expo offers resources and enjoyment for older adults, caregivers, veterans, persons with disabilities and professionals. The two day event takes place October 4 and 5, 2017 at the Timonium Fairgrounds.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Darlene Love headlines the continuous two-day entertainment with a special performance Wednesday, October 4, 4:00-6:00 p.m. In addition to a successful solo career, Love contributed vocals behind many 1960s hits including the Ronettes' "Be My Baby,” Shelley Fabares' "Johnny Angel,” Frank Sinatra's version of "That's Life,” and the Crystals' "Da Doo Ron Ron.” The veteran performer is widely known for “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” which she performed some 30 times as a holiday tradition on David Letterman’s late night television shows. Darlene Love’s career as a back-up singer was featured in the film “20 Feet from Stardom.”

Guests at the Power of Age Expo can reimagine aging by joining a class with CCBC instructors, voting on the Power of Age Art Show, taking a creative selfie to post on Facebook, discovering caregiving resources and more.

Informational booths from Baltimore County agencies include a Technology Zone by the Baltimore County Public Library and a health screening area from the Baltimore County Department of Health and Human Services.

Career and Volunteer Resource Fairs offer opportunities to retool, refresh and rework individual skills. A Veterans Muster helps link veterans to resources dedicated to helping those who served in the military and their families.

Other feature areas at the Expo include resources from GBMC, BGE, Kaiser Permanente, Advanced Hearing Group, University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center, and the STURDY Study.

From rock and roll legends to second careers to honoring those who serve, the Power of Age Expo offers new ways of reimagining aging.
