Recyclable Commodities

Baltimore County operates a single-stream materials recovery facility (MRF) at 10275 Beaver Dam Road, Cockeysville, Maryland 21030. The facility processes:

  • Aluminum
  • Cardboard
  • Paper
  • Plastic variants
  • Steel cans

The County markets recovered recyclable material on a monthly basis. We accept bids for the next month’s materials approximately 10 working days prior to the end of the current month. Bids are due four days prior to the last working day before the end of the month (the schedule may change for holidays). The County will email pricing requests to vendors who have purchased or expressed interest in purchasing recyclable commodities. Pricing requests will also be posted on this webpage.

Note: We will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 to observe Independence Day.

Quality Tests

Single-stream recycling efforts are committed to achieving excellent commodity quality while conducting business in an open, transparent and stakeholder-focused way. We conduct monthly moisture and contaminant quality tests on our highest volume products—mixed paper and old corrugated cardboard. We welcome potential buyers to observe our quality program tests. If you are interested in observing, please email RecyclingBids@baltimorecountymd.gov to coordinate a visit.

Next Quality Test and Bid Period

The next quality test will be held Wednesday, July 18 at 10 a.m. The next bid period starts on July 19 and ends on July 27 at noon.
