COVID-19 Coronavirus Updates and Guidance

The County is taking a number of actions to keep residents safe and minimize the spread of COVID-19. Find status information for County operations and services.

Car Seat Checks and Installations

The Baltimore County Police Department, with support from the Baltimore County Fire and Health Departments, has scheduled car seat checks and installation dates. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the below dates are no longer available at this time for in-person car seat safety checks.

Instead, the Maryland Department of Health's Kids In Safety Seats (KISS) is offering a Video Car Seat Assistance Program (PDF) for help with correctly using and installing your child's car seat. An appointment can be scheduled online for remote face-to-face education and guidance.

KISS has also launched a new live, interactive car seat safety education webinar, Traveling Safely With Your New Baby. This free webinar is a great option for expectant and brand new parents, focusing exclusively on the safe transportation needs of newborns. It will be offered a few times per month and registration is required. Participants will learn about the following topics.

  • Maryland’s child passenger safety laws
  • Appropriate car seat types for infants
  • Key points of installing a rear-facing car seat
  • Proper harnessing of infants in car seats
  • Child passenger safety resources

You can also reach out to the KISS Helpline at 800-370-SEAT (7328) and leave a message or email mdh.kiss@maryland.gov. The KISS team is there to help you!

Schedule an Appointment

The below appointment dates are not available during the COVID-19 pandemic. Check back on this page at a later time to see if these dates have reopened.

An appointment must be made to have your car seat checked or installed. Spaces are limited.

An appointment can be scheduled online or by calling Maryland Kids in Safety Seats (KISS) at 1-800-370-SEAT (7328). KISS is a statewide, nonprofit program funded through a federal grant.
