About Fire Chief Kyrle W. Preis III

Fire Chief Kyrle W. Preis IIIChief Preis joined the Baltimore County Fire Department in 1990 as an Emergency Medical Technician. His 27-year career has seen him hold nine ranks. He has served in operational and administrative roles in both fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

He is a National Registry licensed Paramedic and holds the highest level of Fire Fighter, Fire Officer and Fire Instructor certifications. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Service Administration from the University of Maryland University College and a Master of Science in Public Safety Administration from Lewis University in Illinois.

Chief Preis is a life member of the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company, beginning his tenure there at age 16. He formerly served as a gubernatorial appointee to the 11-member Maryland EMS Board, which oversees budgets for the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems, Shock Trauma, Maryland State Police Aviation Command and the University of Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute.

He is a past Board Member of the Greater Kingsville Civic Association, Past President and member of the St. Stephen School Fathers’ Club, a member of the Loyola Blakefield Fathers’ Club, and past Chairman of the Kingsville Recreation Council Youth Baseball program.

Chief Preis resides in Kingsville, Maryland, with his wife and their three children.
