Opioid Response Working Group Public Meetings

Public meetings will be held on June 18 and July 10 to gather citizen input on the crisis and the County's response. Meeting details for July 10 will be posted when they become available.

Schedule

  • 6 p.m.Welcome and introductions.
  • 6:10 p.m.The opioid epidemic in Baltimore County.
  • 6:20 p.m.Stigma and the opioid epidemic.
  • 6:40 p.m. to 8 p.m.—Public comment period.

As members of the public arrive to the meeting, they are invited to sign up to speak in one of the following six categories to be discussed during the public comment period:

  1. PreventionEfforts to prevent the misuse of opioids.
  2. Naloxone and other Engagement StrategiesPrograms to reduce harms associated with drug use.
  3. TreatmentServices to address opioid use disorder.
  4. RecoverySupports to help people thrive.
  5. FamilyEfforts to assist caregivers and children affected by the opioid epidemic.
  6. Criminal JusticePolicies and programs related to the Police Department and Detention Center.

The meeting will accommodate up to 40 speakers. When the public comment period begins, we will invite participants to the stage in panels of up to four. Each participant will be given two minutes to speak and the working group will have the opportunity to engage with the panelists.

  • 8:05 p.m.Presentation on written public comment to date. 
  • 8:10 p.m.Discussion of County actions to date.
  • 8:15 p.m.Discussion of areas for additional information.
