EPS Variances

The Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability (EPS) publishes a list of the environmental administrative variance requests along with their status. The requests are listed by County Council District.

Planning Board Meetings

Sewer Upgrade in Dundalk

Baltimore County began upgrading sewer lines on six residential streets in Dundalk in July: Dunmanway, Baybriar Road, Sollers Point Road, Merritt Boulevard, Merritt Point Road and Meadow Way. The project is seven percent complete. County engineers anticipate some traffic congestion during construction.

Tickwood Road Sewer

The Department of Public Works and Transportation is eliminating failing septic tanks for four properties at the end of Tickwood Road in Essex. The project consists of the construction of 2,100 feet of pressure sewer and four grinder pumps at a cost of $207,233.12. The date of the notice to proceed was May 1, 2018 and construction is now 57 percent complete.

Marine Oaks Pumping Station

Baltimore County is upgrading the Marine Oaks Sewer Pumping Station at 26 Helmsman Court in Essex. The complete upgrade to the station is estimated to cost $1,584,537 and will take about a year to complete. Work began in January and is now 41 percent finished.

Beachwood Water Main Replacement

Baltimore County is replacing an eight-inch and a 12-inch diameter water line, both cast-iron, which have frequently failed, on Rosebank Avenue, Edgewater Place, Glenhurst Road and Bletzer Road. The project, estimated to cost $1.5 million, began in late April and is expected to be finished by the spring of 2019. It is now 18 percent complete.

Old Battle Grove Sewage Pumping Station

The Department of Public Works and Transportation is renovating the Old Battle Grove Pumping Station in Dundalk. Work began in May 2017. The station, now about 61 percent complete and estimated to cost $2,050,681, should be completed August 22, 2018.

Thompson Boulevard Pumping Station

The Department of Public Works and Transportation is renovating the Thompson Boulevard Sewage Pumping Station at 925 Thompson Boulevard. Construction began in August 2017 and was expected to be completed on August 21, 2018. The station is expected to cost $2,248,000. It is estimated to be 93 percent complete.

Peninsula Boulevard Pumping Station

Public Works is renovating the Peninsula Boulevard Pumping Station at 8401 Stansbury Road. Construction began in August 2017 and is expected to be completed November 7, 2018. The station, now about 57 percent complete, is expected to cost $1,790,400.

Waldman Avenue Sewage Pumping Station

Baltimore County is renovating the Waldman Avenue Sewage Pumping Station at 7301 Waldman Avenue, 21219. Construction began in August 2017 and will take about a year to complete. It is 63 percent complete and when finished will cost $1,507,281.

Opening Rules for the Wise Avenue Bridge

The Wise Avenue Draw Bridge can now be raised and lowered for water traffic with notice to the Department of Public Works and Transportation. To request a bridge opening, call 410-887-8160, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., or call the Public Works dispatch number at 410-887-5210.
