Comprehensive Zoning Map Process 2020

The Comprehensive Zoning Map Process (CZMP) takes place every four years on an exact schedule specified in the County Code. Any citizen may request a zoning change on any property in Baltimore County, although the usual participants in the process are individual landowners, contract purchasers, community organizations, County staff, the Planning Board and the County Council.

The CZMP covers a period of approximately 12 months and results in zoning decisions that are reflected in a final log of issues. Ultimately, the County Council decides on each issue whether to retain the existing zoning or to enact a different zone(s) or district(s). Generally, each issue is a single property, but an issue might cover many adjoining properties and might even cover many hundreds of acres. The zoning on all properties that were not issues is reenacted without change.

For more information, please visit the CZMP page. If you have any questions, please contact the Department of Planning, 105 West Chesapeake Avenue, Suite 101, Towson, Maryland 21204. Call 410-887-3480 or email czmp2020@baltimorecountymd.gov.

Water Project in Carney

Baltimore County is replacing 1,000 feet of old, cast-iron water pipe at Waltham Woods Road and Summit Avenue that has been breaking with regularity. The new line, which will be 16 inches in diameter, will cost $750,000. Work is 70 percent complete and should be finished this summer. Tie-ins to water services are presently on hold.

Stoneleigh-Anneslie Storm Water Project

The Department of Public Works is addressing storm water concerns in the Stoneleigh-Anneslie community and updating the 100-year-old drainage system. Baltimore County earmarked $1 million for the project in 2018. A system was designed last year and the County's contractor began work in February with the relocation of water lines. Work is currently on hold because of COVID-19. When it resumes, crews will install pipes and manholes on Kingston Road, Wardman Avenue, Marlborough Road, Avondale Road and a part of Regester Avenue. Working hours, traffic changes and parking impacts will be announced as the job progresses.

Information: Email the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Storm Water Division at engineering@baltimorecountymd.gov.
