Comprehensive Zoning Map Process (CZMP) Hearing

CZMP Hearing, 3rd District
Date: Thursday, March 12
Time: 6 p.m. (public sign-in begins at 5 p.m.)
Place: Loch Raven High School, 1212 Cowpens Avenue, Towson, Maryland 21286

The CZMP takes place every four years on an exact schedule specified in the County Code. Any citizen may request a zoning change on any property in Baltimore County, although the usual participants in the process are individual landowners, contract purchasers, community organizations, County staff, the Planning Board and the County Council.

The CZMP covers a period of approximately 12 months and results in zoning decisions that are reflected in a final log of issues. Ultimately, the County Council decides on each issue whether to retain the existing zoning or to enact a different zone(s) or district(s). Generally, each issue is a single property, but an issue might cover many adjoining properties and might even cover many hundreds of acres. The zoning on all properties that were not issues is reenacted without change.

Please Note: Each speaker will have two minutes to present their views to the Planning Board for the CZMP issues in the 2nd District. If preparing written testimony, please bring 20 copies for the Planning Board members and staff.

The Planning Board will deliberate their recommendations during work sessions in the month of April. The sessions are open to the public, however no public input will be heard during work sessions.

For more information, please visit the CZMP page. If you have any questions, please contact the Department of Planning, 105 West Chesapeake Avenue, Suite 101, Towson, Maryland 21204. Call 410-887-3480 or email czmp2020@baltimorecountymd.gov.

Water Project in Carney

Baltimore County is replacing 1,000 feet of old cast-iron water pipe at Waltham Woods Road and Summit Avenue that has been breaking with regularity. The new line, which will be sixteen inches in diameter, will cost $850,000. Work is expected to begin in February and will be completed in the summer.

Information: Email engineering@baltimorecountymd.gov.

Water Main Replacement on York Road

Baltimore County is replacing a water main on York Road between Padonia Road and Wight Avenue. Contractors are replacing an old cast-iron main built in the 1930s that has failed frequently in the past decade. The project, which began in July 2018 and will cost about $14 million, is expected to take about two years to complete and is about 88 percent finished.
