Girdwood Road

The Department of Public Works and Transportation has installed two speed humps, a raised intersection, school crosswalks, a tree-lined median, a light and a new storm drain on Girdwood Road to promote pedestrian and vehicle safety. In addition, pedestrian signals have been installed at the intersection of Girdwood Road, Padonia Road and Cranbrook Road. A raised intersection at Spring Lake Drive and Fallsbrook Road is also planned.

Information: Contact the Bureau of Traffic Engineering at 410-887-3554.

Gorsuch Mill Road Closure

After receiving public input last year, Baltimore County has decided not to replace Bridge Number B-0071, the Gorsuch Mill Road Bridge over Blackrock Run. The portion of Gorsuch Mill Road between the bridge and Falls Road will be removed and the end of Gorsuch Mill Road on the Mount Carmel Road side of the bridge crossing will be modified accordingly. Appropriate signs will also be installed at the Mount Carmel Road intersection indicating Gorsuch Mill Road is not a through road.

Information: Email engineering@baltimorecountymd.gov.

New Water Main in Cromwell Bridge Road

Baltimore County began the installation of a new 12-inch diameter water line in Cromwell Bridge Road between Loch Raven Boulevard and Gleneagles Court in January. The new 1,374-foot line, which will connect two existing terminal water lines, should be finished in the summer and cost $622,000.

Information: Email engineering@baltimorecountymd.gov.

Springdale Water Tank

The Department of Public Works and Transportation is repainting the elevated Springdale water tank at 906 Old Bosley Road in Cockeysville. Work on the tank, which has a capacity of one million gallons, began in September and is about 70 percent complete. Work will continue through March and is expected to cost $800,000.

Information: Email engineering@baltimorecountymd.gov.

Water Main Replacement on York Road

Baltimore County is replacing a water main in York Road between Padonia Road and Wight Avenue. Contractors are replacing an old cast-iron main built in the 1930s that has failed frequently in the past decade. The project, which began in July and will cost about $14 million, is expected to take about two years to complete and is about 30 percent finished.

Information: Email engineering@baltimorecountymd.gov.

Galloway Avenue at York Road

Baltimore County is widening the south side of Galloway Avenue just west of York Road.

Information: Email engineering@baltimorecountymd.gov.

Bridge Near Third Mine Branch Reduced to One Lane

A nine-foot-long, concrete-slab bridge (Bridge B-0757) on Stablersville Road, just west of Graystone Road, is in need of repair and was reduced to one lane of traffic by Department of Public Works structural engineers more than two years ago. The bridge is scheduled to be repaired and County engineers have begun to scope out options.

Information: Email engineering@baltimorecountymd.gov.

Gores Mill Road Bridges

The concrete bridges which span Little Falls just south of the Morris Meadows Recreation Farm (Bridges B-0136, B-0137, B-0138 and B-0346) were constructed more than 80 years ago and need replacement or renovation. Work began in August 2017 and should be completed by the summer of 2019. Work on the project is currently suspended in accordance with environmental permitting requirements. The project, estimated to cost $3.6 million, is 80 percent complete.
