River Road Bridge Reconstruction

River Road Bridge (B-0184) was severely damaged during the May 2018 flood which hit both Baltimore and Howard counties. River Road was immediately closed to traffic and contractors then demolished the remaining structure in the weeks following the storm. The Department of Public Works and Transportation has been planning a replacement bridge and County engineers expect construction to begin in 2019 with a completion date in the late spring or summer.

Information: Email engineering@baltimorecountymd.gov.

Thistle Road Slope Repair and Road Reconstruction

Thistle Road was also closed because of the May floods, but residential access has remained open for the northern part of the road. Repairs are under consideration and a reopening is expected by the middle of 2019.

Louisiana Avenue

Baltimore County is adding curb and gutters along both sides of Louisiana Avenue in English Consul from Washington Street to Baltimore Street.

New Water Line on Powers Lane

Baltimore County is investing $3.5 million to improve the water system in the Catonsville area. Three thousand feet of new water main is being constructed between the Catonsville pumping station and Nuwood Drive. The new main, which will be 36 inches in diameter, will improve the reliability of the system. It is now 98 percent complete.

Dogwood Road Bridge

The Dogwood Road bridge over Dogwood Run (Bridge B-0347) is closed for replacement. Work began on July 2 and will cost about $2.6 million. The project should be finished in early 2019. During construction, traffic will be signed and detoured.
