Baltimore County recognizes that the success of all County programs depends upon the well-being and commitment of County employees. In order to support a healthy and productive workplace, an integrated employee assistance and work–life support program has been developed. These services have been designed to meet employee needs and to conform to the highest standards of quality.

EAP provides phone consultation or face-to-face counseling (up to 10 visits with a local EAP provider per issue, per year) for every household member of a County employee. There is no charge for EAP services, and these services are not tied to your selection of a County health plan. If EAP is not the best setting for your care, you will be assisted with obtaining managed mental health benefits, available to you through your County-sponsored health plan.

Work–Life Assistance

The County recognizes that the ability of its employees to be productive is impacted by life concerns that can often interfere with work. Therefore, the County provides work–life support services for its employees through the EAP program.

Child, Elder and Pet Care Referral Services

EAP can assist with finding child care, elder care or pet care services that meet the particular needs of employees, including in-home daycare, a daycare center, an adult daycare setting, a nanny, summer camps or a pet sitter, etc. By calling EAP at 888-431-4334 and asking to speak with a work–life specialist, County employees and their household members can receive assistance with finding prescreened referrals for a variety of work–life needs.

Legal and Identity Theft

Employees concerned with personal legal problems may be distracted at work and spend time during the workday to manage those issues. County employees and their household members can consult with an attorney for 30 minutes at no cost. This consultation can occur in person or via phone, and includes consult for a wide range of legal concerns like identity theft, with the exception of employment law. In addition, County employees and their household members can receive 60 minutes of phone support with a fraud resolution specialist at no cost.
