Important Information for Employees About Maintenance Medications through Express Scripts

Read the information below regarding the prescription drug benefit for employees and family members purchasing maintenance medications (prescriptions taken regularly to treat ongoing conditions) from at local retail pharmacy through Express Scripts, the prescription drug carrier for both the CIGNA OAPIN and the CIGNA OAP plans.

Note: If you already take advantage of home delivery services through Express Scripts or, if you are not taking maintenance medications, then there is no need to take further action.

Home Delivery Preferred for Maintenance Medications

We’re always looking out for the best interests of our employees. That’s why we chose Home Delivery from the Express Scripts Pharmacy as the preferred way to fill your maintenance medications (prescriptions taken regularly to treat ongoing conditions).

Home Delivery is safe, reliable and convenient. By using the Express Scripts Pharmacy, both you and the County could save money and help maintain our health benefit for everyone.

It's Your Choice - Two Options

If you are enrolled in Express Scripts, you need to make an important decision about where you get your maintenance medications filled, and then take action by contacting Express Scripts.

Option 1 - Home Delivery

Choose Home Delivery from the Express Scripts Pharmacy by visiting or by calling 888-772-5188 (8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern, M – F). Express Scripts will make the transition easy by contacting your doctor to get a new prescription for Home Delivery.

Option 2 - Fill At Your Local Pharmacy

Choose your local retail pharmacy to fill those prescriptions by visiting or by calling 888-772-5188 (8:30 am to 6 pm Eastern, M – F).

Express Scripts Prescription-Drug Program

Under the our Express Scripts prescription-drug program, you are allowed two fills of your maintenance medication prescriptions at a retail pharmacy. If Express Scripts does not hear from you by your third maintenance medication fill at a retail pharmacy, your prescription will not be processed under the plan. At that time, you may still call Express Script at 888.772.5188 to opt-out of the program and your prescription may be reprocessed.

We don’t want you to experience any inconvenience so, contact Express Scripts today and make an informed decision.

In the coming weeks you may receive additional communications from Express Scripts about the decision we need you to make, as well as information on the benefits of Home Delivery. If you have any other questions regarding your prescription-drug benefit, call the number on your prescription ID card.

If you have any questions that Express Scripts is unable to answer, please contact the Insurance Division at or 410-887-2568.
