COVID-19 Coronavirus Updates and Guidance

The County is taking a number of actions to keep residents safe and minimize the spread of COVID-19. Find status information for County operations and services.

COVID-19 Shelter Services Updates

We’re in the midst of an uncertain time. Many services provided by Baltimore County Animal Services have been reduced in both the shelter and field. We hope that our clients will bear with us and understand that we’re making these decisions to protect our staff, our community and the animals as best we can. We appreciate each and every one of you for everything you do to support our shelter, and the animals of Baltimore County.

To ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors, we’ve had to make some changes to our shelter and field operations, until further notice. To find out when our shelter is back to normal operations, please keep an eye on our Facebook page and this page. Find status information below for the following services:

Spay and Neuter Surgeries

Starting Monday, June 22, Animal Services will resume online scheduling of surgeries for cats at its Baldwin surgery center. The scheduling portal will be available beginning at 8 a.m. on the Spay and Neuter Services page.

A phased-in reopening is in place in order to ensure the safety of staff, the public and all animals served. We appreciate your patience as we work with our local, state and federal partners toward fully reopening both our Baldwin and Dundalk surgical locations. Until such time, the following protocols are in place:

  • All services are by appointment only.
  • If you are feeling sick, or anyone in your household is sick, we ask that you schedule for when you are healthy.
  • One caregiver (owner) will be permitted to accompany each pet.
  • Face coverings are required.
  • Pre-surgical documents will be emailed prior to appointment; a valid email address is required.
  • Payment is required at time of scheduling. Requests without payment will not be accepted.
  • TNR cats will require an appointment at this time, but no payment is required.

More information will be provided as we increase our capacity to provide all services. Please continue to monitor our website for these updates, including dog surgery availability.
