Each year the Baltimore County Commission for Women accepts nominations for its annual awards in the following categories:
- Woman of the Year
- Young Woman of the Year
- Woman Entrepreneur of the Year
- Woman Making a Difference
2024 will be the 42nd year honoring women for their outstanding contributions to the community. Awards presentations will be held in the spring.
Eligibility Criteria
Previous winners and elected officials are not eligible to be nominated.
Nomination | Eligibility Criteria |
---|
Woman of the Year | - Must have resided in Baltimore County for a minimum of three years
- Has made significant, unique and lasting contributions within the community, workplace or school to champion the interests and needs of women and families
- Serves as a role model of inspiration and achievement for other women
- Enhances the lives of the citizens of Baltimore County

Young Woman of the Year | - Must have resided in Baltimore County for a minimum of three years
- Must be a high school senior attending a Baltimore County school
- Is a proven leader
- Has made an extraordinary impact on her school and community through volunteering

Woman Entrepreneur of the Year | The nominee must: - Have resided in Baltimore County for a minimum of three years
- Be the owner/founder/current executive (typically the CEO or President) responsible for day-to-day operations of the for-profit business, and in this role for at least five years
- Substantiate the challenges and victories of business ownership
- Serve as a role model to other women/engagement in the community
- Have made a significant impact on their industry and the Baltimore County community
The business: - Must have been operational for a minimum of five years
- Does not need to be located in Baltimore County for consideration
Award criteria will include: - Evidence of mentoring others—Proof of recent mentorship relationships with other new business owners/students
- Contributions to community-oriented projects—Evidence of the use of her personal time and resources, including:
- Listing of specific contributions of money, time or resources to charitable causes
- Membership in councils, boards, and clubs providing support and services to the community
- Social entrepreneurship activity that positively impacts underserved communities in Baltimore County will be taken into consideration
- Response to adversity—Examples of problems faced in the nominee’s business and the methods used to solve them, including:
- Specific description of financial, physical, legal or other crisis
- Substantiation of the threat to the continuity of the business
- Defined actions taken by the nominee to resolve the crisis

Woman Making a Difference | - Will be chosen from the nominees submitted for WOTY and YWOTY
- Has made a powerful impact on the community through volunteer efforts (includes college students)
- Has outstanding achievements or made unique contributions to their community
- Ability to provide creative solutions to complex community and social challenges

Nomination Instructions
Complete the online nomination form below describing the nominee’s qualifications. You must also include such items as, but not limited to, the following:
- Curriculum vitae
- Letters of commendation
- Lists of activities
- Newspaper articles
- Resumes
Nomination packets are to be no longer than eight pages, including the nomination form, at the time of submission. Completed nominations must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Monday, April 1.
