The County's official zoning map is adopted by the Baltimore County Council.
Every four years, the County reviews the map in comprehensive fashion and considers requests for changes to the zoning classification of individual properties.
The Council received recommendations from the Baltimore County Planning Board with respect to each request for a change in zoning classification and held a series of public hearings in June, 2008.
The County Council has the sole authority to determine the zoning classification of a property and, in doing so, may accept, reject or modify any recommendation of the Planning Board.
The CZMP was concluded on August 26, 2008. The Council voted on all zoning requests and adopted a separate map for each councilmanic district by legislative act. The maps become effective on September 8, 2008.
