Connecting Children to a Family

The Rewards

Foster and adoptive parenting is a challenging experience and the rewards are unparalleled. The feeling of achievement when you see a child's eyes light up as they begin to feel the love and safety of a caring home: these are rewards that last a lifetime.

The Children

The children range in age from newborn to 17 years old and for a variety of reasons cannot live with their biological families. All of them deserve loving families to provide them with security and a sense of belonging.

The Joy

Imagine turning a child's fear and frowns into bravery and grins. Imagine seeing love grow in a child who may have never known love. Imagine him or her blossoming into a happy and healthy child because of your commitment and caring. These are just some of the joys that await those who choose to become foster or adoptive parents.

Connecting

It is not difficult to become a foster or adoptive parent. We welcome single as well as married couples, you can rent your home or own it, you can work in or outside the home. We invite all responsible adults over 21 years old to inquire about foster and/or adoptive parenting.

Working as a Team

To prepare you for this unique parenting experience, we will provide you with education, support and training. Our staff of foster and adoptive case specialists will work with you personally, providing ongoing support once you accept a child in your home. We also provide you with financial and medical assistance.

The Challenge

The number of children in need of foster and adoptive parents is increasing faster than the availability of homes. Baltimore County Department of Social Services has an urgent need for foster and adoptive families. We need an adequate number of quality foster and adoptive homes to ensure our children have one of the most basic human rights - to live in a safe and loving environment. You can make the difference to a child who needs your love and support.
