The center offers more than 60 classes per week in areas ranging from educational and recreational to health and fitness. Click on the Pikesville Pulse (PDF), our monthly senior center newsletter, to learn more about all the exciting opportunities the center has to offer.

A Little History

The Pikesville Senior Center celebrated its 25th year anniversary in May 2004. The center began in a storefront on Reisterstown Road in 1979. In 1982, Baltimore County Department of Aging, Baltimore County Department of Health and the Baltimore County Library built a new facility. Due to tremendous growth, the senior center gained the entire second floor when the Department of Health moved. In 2007, renovation of the entire facility has resulted in a beautiful new facade and interior.

Something for Everyone

With more than 60 classes being offered per week and an array of special events, there really is something for everyone. The center offers many levels of exercise programs from high impact aerobics or circuit weight training to PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise) or Tai Chi. In the Fall of 2007, Pikesville Senior Center opened its new fitness center, offering individual, structured fitness programs for senior participants.

Are you an outdoors type? Join our Cycling Seniors group. These men and women pedal their way for a scenic ride on local biking trails.

Trying to keep your mind active? Take a class in Psychology or Improving Your Memory. There are many discussions groups available throughout the week. Join in to discuss local and world issues.

Want recreation and games? The center offers many levels of bridge lessons and competitive duplicate play. Mah jongg, canasta and chess are also available.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Pikesville Senior Center relies heavily on the many skills and talents of volunteers. There are numerous volunteer opportunities for all ages. Help coordinate a party or fund-raising event or make a difference by taking an active role on our Executive Board. Looking for something a little lighter? Maybe answering phones, entering computer data or assisting with class registration is appealing to you.
