Question 3. Where was the first Baptist Church building in Baltimore County located?

Answer: Saters Church was built on the corner of MD Route 25 (Falls Road) and Saters Lane. Henry Sater deeded one acre for use by the General Baptist Church congregation to which he belonged. Henry Sater was born in England in 1690. He came to the New World in 1709 and became a very prosperous land owner in and around Baltimore, MD. He was a religious man and always invited any visiting preacher to his home. At his own expense, he built the red brick church with the help of his slaves in what is known today as Lutherville. In 1742 he deeded over the meeting house and one acre to the church. It is now known as Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.
