Question 1. Where in the County did people eagerly look forward to living in tents during the summer?
Answer: At Emory Grove, in Glyndon, a Methodist summer campground founded in 1871. The campground was named for Bishop John Emory of the Methodist Church. The members of the Emory Grove Association rented tents each summer for religious meetings and dismantled them at the end of each season. Eventually they were replaced by permanent cottages which have been passed down in families for generations.
