Kamenetz Announces Parking Meter Holiday

Initiative to Encourage Small Business Shopping

Towson, Maryland (November 27, 2013) – A parking meter holiday will make it easier for busy shoppers to support locally owned businesses throughout Baltimore County on Small Business Saturday and the entire long holiday weekend.

From Thanksgiving Day to December 1, shoppers will get two free hours of parking each day at 1,735 parking meters decorated with red "Season's Greetings" bags in Catonsville, Towson, Parkville, Essex, Overlea, Pikesville, Arbutus, Stoneleigh and Dundalk.

"This time of the year it is especially important to support the owners of Baltimore County's local shops and restaurants," said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. "We're doing our part with a parking meter holiday Thanksgiving weekend, so shoppers can help keep the neighborhood economy going strong."

Free meter parking in Baltimore County returns December 20 to 25 for last-minute shopping.
