Baltimore County Wins Three Platinum Awards for Web Design
Towson, Maryland (November 26, 2013) – The Baltimore County Office of Information Technology (OIT) has earned three platinum awards in the 2013 MarCom Awards competition. The County won Best Web Design, Best Mobile Web Design and Best Government Website for its redesign of EnjoyBaltimoreCounty.com, which launched earlier this year.
The annual MarCom Awards competition honors excellence and recognizes creativity and hard work in the areas of the year's best print, visual design, audio and online media. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, design firms, production companies and freelancers around the globe.
Baltimore County now shares in this prestigious accolade with Fortune 500 companies and organizations such as the American Red Cross, Bloomberg, Booz Allen Hamilton, Lockheed Martin and Johns Hopkins University.
"We recognize that the Web is the first place people go for information and I congratulate our hard-working Web designers for creating content that is engaging and easy for people to use," said County Executive Kevin Kamenetz.
"These important awards highlight Baltimore County's and OIT's commitment to providing technology that is innovative, efficient and cost-effective," said Director of Information Technology Robert Stradling. "Our dedicated staff is making every dollar count while producing work that is recognized among the best in the industry."
Site Connects Residents, Visitors, Businesses
EnjoyBaltimoreCounty.com is a joint effort between Baltimore County's Office of Information Technology and Office of Tourism and Promotion. Launched in March, the site connects residents and visitors with businesses across the County. It allows the public to browse featured events, find dining, lodging, activities and create detailed itineraries for their travels.
MarCom is the most recent recognition for the County's work on EnjoyBaltimoreCounty.com. In September, the site won three silver W3 Awards from the International Academy of Visual Arts. It was also named Best General Interest Website in the Web Marketing Association's 2013 Web Awards competition.
The MarCom Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The international organization consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production and freelance professionals. AMCP also administers recognition programs, provides judges, and rewards outstanding achievement and service to the profession.
